As family members we live in a unique time. It is not uncommon to be caring for parents and grandparents while still launching our children. We are often called upon or feel responsible to provide care, often from a geographic distance, for someone who may or may not want our care or may not want the care we can provide. The question of "What are we going to do about...?" increasingly punctuates family conversation. Medical care, living arrangements and end of life decisions become part of our daily reality.
Making Decisions as a family can be challenging. It can also be an incredibly gratifying experience that deepens relationships and opens families to an increasingly rich life together.
In this program we will be looking at the dynamics of family decision making in order to:
- identify decision-making challenges
- understand family dynamics in decision-making
- explore what constitutes a good decision and how to make them
- draw upon spiritual resources in the decision process
- recognize the rewards that can be found in family decision
- avoid the pitfalls that are common to family decisions
- understand how family decision-making can strengthen and enhance families
- understand the importance of acceptance and true surrender for our health and well being
THIS COMPLIMENTARY WORKSHOP IS PRESENTED THROUGH THE COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS OF:
- Ecumenical Center
- Friends of Hospice
- Methodist Healthcare Ministries
