After serving as a senior pastor for 40-plus years, D. Leslie Hollon, PhD, is shifting to a new form of ministry, announcing the publication of his first book, Love As Holiness: Dare To Live It.
“I’ve been privileged to walk beside thousands of people in our sacred quest to love and be loved,” said Hollon “In gratitude for what I’ve learned, I decided to write a story driven guide for our shared journey.”
Born and raised in South Texas, Hollon’s ministry journey began in high school, as he served as a youth preacher at First Baptist Church in Boerne. Over the course of his distinguished career, he served in senior pastor roles for a total of 43 years at Trinity Baptist Church (San Antonio), St. Matthews Baptist Church (Louisville), Wornall Road Baptist Church (Kansas City); and Finchville Baptist Church in Kentucky.
A central theme of Love As Holiness is that life is most real when you are loving and being loved. Loved by God, people and yourself.
Hollon leans into the lessons he learned as a pastor, preacher and professor to teach how to discover your truest self by daring to live your greatest adventure, the call to love and be loved.
Weaving together wisdom, scripture and personal anecdotes, Love As Holiness dives into relationships, happiness and sense of self.
“Being made in God’s image means our DNA includes the holy link of love between ourselves, God, and each other,” said Hollon “If we allow this love to flourish from our lives we discover we’ve been discovered by true happiness.”
Hollon has preached, taught and conducted reconciliation work across Europe, Africa, Asia and North and South America. He currently teaches leadership at Baylor University’s Truett Seminary and serves as Board Chair for the San Antonio Ecumenical Center for Religion & Health.
Preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary, Les and his wife, Vicki, are blessed with three children and five grandchildren.
