The Center for Child & Adolescent ADHD Testing

ADD & ADHD Assessment

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most prevalent and widely researched diagnoses of children in the United States. Often accompanied by a specific learning disability, ADHD is a neurological condition which can make it very difficult for a child to succeed in school, and thus have a very negative impact upon self-image and self-confidence. An accurate diagnosis depends upon a complete evaluation, which includes testing by a mental health professional.

At The Ecumenical Center we offer comprehensive evaluations for ADD, ADHD, and learning disabilities. Our experienced clinicians assess the type and severity of the condition and recommend a tailored treatment plan. This is done over the course of three to four visits during which a comprehensive history form is completed by the parent(s); an interview with the parent (children under 12 yr) or with both parent and child (12 yr+) is conducted by the psychologist/educational diagnostician and rating scales for parent(s), teacher(s), and self (12 yr and above) are distributed. These are returned, along with reports from the school, counselors, mental health personnel, and medical personnel for review and scoring. Additional computer based assessment and scoring may be conducted at a follow-up session with the child, regardless of age. Once the data is all collected, scored and reviewed, a feedback interview with the parent(s) and child (12 yr+) is conducted during which a treatment plan is developed. A written report is then generated to the child’s pediatrician, counselor, or other treatment resource selected by the parent(s) in consultation with the psychologist.

ADD & ADHD Assessment

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is increasingly being seen and diagnosed in adults who were never diagnosed with the disorder in childhood or adolescence. Often the adult client will report a lengthy history replete with example after example of difficulties focusing, staying on task, struggling to not allow oneself to become distracted, only fail time after time. Memory issues and problems with planning and carrying through to completion are often co-morbid conditions, along with difficulty reading and retaining what has just been read. Adults with hyperactivity have difficulty sitting through movies, concerts, church services, etc. without having to get up and move about. The mind may seem to race and the flow of thoughts unending, often accompanied by a specific learning disability, ADHD is a neurological condition which can make it very difficult for an adult to succeed in college, specialized job training and work performance, and may have a very negative impact upon self-image and self-confidence. An accurate diagnosis depends upon a complete evaluation, which includes testing by a mental health professional.

The Center for Child & Adolescent Autism Spectrum Disorder Testing

The Center offers to parents the ability to clinically assess Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). With increased awareness and diagnostic sophistication it has become possible in the last decade to detect and help treat the milder forms of this disorder earlier in life, thereby marshalling helpful academic, medical, and social resources for the child’s treatment.

At The Center, we offer comprehensive evaluations for ASD and its frequent concomitant learning disabilities. Our experienced clinicians assess the type and severity of the condition and recommend a tailored treatment plan. This is done over the course of three to four visits during which a comprehensive history form is completed by the parent(s); an interview with the parent (children under 12 yr) or with both parent and child (12 yr+) is conducted by the psychologist/educational diagnostician and rating scales for parent(s) are distributed.
