The Center Receives Sutherland Springs Grant

Four months and 17 days after the tragic shooting at Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church, Texas Governor Greg Abbott released $2.3 million in grant funding to be given to six agencies that have offered help and assistance to the victims of the November mass shooting.

These agencies, says Abbott, have “provided a coordinated response to assist residents of Sutherland Springs and the surrounding areas with community resiliency and recovery programs.”

One of the agencies to receive funding is The Center. Since the day of the massacre, The Center has been present in and around the community of Sutherland Springs, providing counseling and grief management services.

The $550,000 in funding will help The Center provide “licensed mental health clinicians for mental health screenings, case management, psychological education, and will continue mental health services if required by residents.”
