The Center For Expressive Therapies

Health and Harmony aims to help individuals foster wellness and relieve stress by learning or improving skills at a musical instrument. Students from ages 10 to 110 will learn how to play an instrument of their choice in a way that may support relaxation, well-being, and self-confidence.

One-on-one sessions are led by a professional musician and facilitated by a certified music therapist. Lessons are available either virtually or in-person (drum and piano lessons in-person only) at various times throughout the day, Monday-Saturday. Beginners and intermediate level musicians are welcome.

Students can choose to learn the following instruments:

  • Acoustic guitar (available to take home)
  • Ukulele (available to take home)
  • Electric guitar
  • Standup bass
  • Drum kit
  • Percussion
  • Piano

Learning a musical instrument has been shown to improve mental health and social cohesion as well as reduce anxiety. In Health and Harmony, you will also:

  • Learn the fundamental skills of an instrument in a healthy and supportive way
  • Learn a self-care practice in your daily life to promote a healthy lifestyle
  • Learn to play an instrument without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated

Please note, Health and Harmony is not music therapy, but rather a wellness program.

COST: $50 per session with scholarships available to those who qualify.

Sessions will be held both at our headquarters in San Antonio and at The Center for Healing & Hope in La Vernia.
